Welcome to BSR (Broken Souls Restored) ~ An Advanced, Faith-Based Abuse Restoration Program

From Healing … To Restoration

Many walk through the pain of abuse. While short-term or introductory programs can offer comfort, solidarity, and first steps toward recovery, deeper healing takes time, guidance, and the support of others who truly understand.

We offer programming for both women and men who are survivors of abuse.

Julie’s confidential, faith-based advanced abuse recovery program is designed for those ready to take their recovery further—beyond survival—to rebuilding their sense of identity, trust, and purpose in Christ. To learning answers to specific questions and instances that arise during and after abuse. To experience true deliverance and freedom. It is appropriate for those who have experienced childhood abuse and adult relationship abuse.

Meeting weekly on Zoom, this long-term program provides a safe and faith-centered space to explore the layers of advanced healing that require more than quick answers.

Each (approximately) two-hour session combines biblical truth, practical tools, discussion, Bible reading, journaling, prayer, and community support to help participants address the lasting impact of trauma, discover God’s restorative power, and walk in freedom. Some offline work is encouraged as members journal additional thoughts in their processing and spend time with God.

This program is a pilgrimage—one that acknowledges the depth of hurt, provides solutions for the pain, and advances participants more into their healing than ever before, while offering lasting transformation. We do not walk this road alone, but alongside others who are also seeking wholeness, strength, and renewed life through God’s love.

Who is Broken Souls Restored for?

  1. Ladies, 16 or older, who have completed an initial abuse recovery program (we recommend the free ARMS Her Journey, Leslie Vernick’s Conquer Program, or Natalie Hoffman’s Flying Free program, but there are also others).
  2. Gentlemen, 16 or older, who are survivors of abuse with no additional pre-programming or with specific counseling, coaching or programming already obtained. An intake with BSR is required for membership.
  3. Ladies and Gentlemen who are no longer actively living/in a relationship with an abuser (co-parenting from separate residences is acceptable. Living with an abusive parent if unable to support self is acceptable.)
  4. Ladies and Gentlemen removed from other abusive relationships or setting strong boundaries with additional necessary family/friend relationships.
  5. Ones who desire to take their healing to a new level and perhaps even feel ready to start exploring new relationships.
  6. Ladies and Gentlemen who are safe to contact, email, appear on camera (alias name can be used but the BSR office will require your legal name), and discuss class topics interactively with the instructor and other students.
  7. Ladies or Gentlemen who are possibly (not required), looking to strengthen their healing to be involved in ministry or assist other survivors, OR just feeling the need to delve deeper into her or his healing.

NOTE: Men’s and Women’s groups are held separately. Ladies groups are available now. Men’s survivor groups will be available in the next several months.

Members Say…

I cannot thank you enough…BSR is vital. I will continue it even when finished with all the group lessons because I am a better person for having taken these classes with you. -M.W.

Thank you so much for sacrificing and following the Lord’s leading in developing this program. Every single week, even when I think a lesson will not apply, I gain nuggets and it has been invaluable. And, I’ve learned something each week from every other member in our group too! -B.H.

Thanks Julie, I am loving the class. Yes, it’s hard sometimes but that is why I am taking it…because I know I have more healing to do. I appreciate all the time you have put into this, and the time and energy involved in leading us. I am learning so much! -M.K.

About the Author of Broken Souls Restored

Julie spent 17 years in a controlling marriage and had two other relationships considered abusive. She also suffered some abuse while growing up. In 2008, she discovered the ARMS Her Journey program. It taught her about God’s value for her, gave her strength, provided hope, helped her set boundaries, and assisted her in co-parenting.

God used the program to ultimately save her own life and the lives of her children. Not only did she complete the Her Journey program multiple times, but she also later began leading HJ groups, completed hundreds of hours of training in advocacy/intervention, and continued on to work as an employee for ARMS for several years. In her role as Director of Women’s Ministry and Education, she oversaw Her Journey leaders, developed curriculum for their initial 35 Hour Faith-Based Advocacy Training and ongoing certifications, taught about domestic abuse in the community and at conferences, and assisted hundreds of survivors with varied services.

In the beginning of 2025, God called Julie away from ARMS. He reminded her (several times!) of the advanced program she had already (mostly) written, and clearly directed her to develop it for others. BSR includes everything God walked Julie through as she continued her healing, plus many questions and concerns she heard while mentoring other survivors. The curriculum continues to evolve.

You can find some of Julie’s abuse story in her episode with Leslie Vernick, and learn about her visit to heaven in her interview with Randy Kay. You can also join her on her Heaven Blog.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” -Isaiah 6:8 NIV
